ROOK'S RECAP 3.0

It’s a long way to the top if you wanna Rock & Roll

                                                                                                                      -AC/DC from High Voltage(1975)

THE LEAD ITEM

TWO WORDS: Just. Win.

Truer words never were spoken from AC/DC in the lead lyric as we look back on another game from the Miami Dolphins. Finally they get a win and can now try to get on a bit of a roll as they hit the road for Houston. But truth be told, it’s not that far to the top. A glance at the AFC east schedule does hold promise for the fins. Next week New England plays in Cincinnati, the Jets host Peyton and the Indy machine, and the Dolphins travel to Houston to play the winless Texans. Who can forget the last time we overlooked the Texans. See: Week 1 in 2004 when the Sheddawgs were forced to listen to the fins lose at home to the Texans on internet radio. But, should it all play it out like we want it to, the Dolphins could be in first place on Monday. Imagine if they actually played up to their potential for once.

THE GAME

The Culpepper experiment still needs some work with Daunte racking up another 5 sacks. But the difference in this one was that the rest of the team came together in the second half and picked up the slack. Special teams, the running game, and the D played well enough to make up for some key errors and because of that the Dolphins won the game. Ronnie Brown pounded the rock 26 times and wore down the Titan D. I think Ronnie can carry this type of load on a weekly basis. We haven’t seen the best of this beast yet. I was also impressed with some of Mike Mularkey’s play-calling in some instances during this one. Nice reverses paid off.

FINAL SCORE:  DOLPHINS: 13   TITANICS: 10

Cheers to: Channing Crowder. New monster on the Dolphin D

Jeers to: Special teams blunders- Missed FG and fumble.

Ally’s All-Star Dolphin: Ronnie Brown

Dawg-O-Meter: 7

Melanie’s quote of the week:From the beginning, I've said the more I play, the better I'm going to get,"  Daunte Culpepper

THE GAME OUTSIDE THE GAME

Commentators: Kevin Harlan and Rich Gannon. It is clear that Gannon hates Culpepper. He was on Culpepper the whole game. But Gannon is gay.

JUNGLE JIM’S PLAY OF THE GAME

Chris Chambers' Touchdown catch...although a little too late, it was still the only positive from the game.

TWID (this week in Dolphins history)

Think back to September 26, 1976. That’s when the Dolphins faced QB Joe Namath for the last time, shutting down Joe and the Jets 16-0 at the Orange Bowl. Just one day before, on September 25, four young lads: Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton formed a band called Feedback. They would later go on to form U2 while Joe would go on to kiss Suzy Kolber on the sidelines and ruin his reputation.
