Rooks Recap 2007

ROOK’S RECAP 2.0

“I am Slowly Turning into YOU”
- White Stripes

FINAL SCORE: COWBOYS 37 DOLPHINS 20

The Lead Item:
Trent Green

Is it just me or are the words “savvy veteran” synonomous with the words washed-up bum. And no, I don’t mean cleanin’ your behind after doing a number 2, although that smells just as bad as our current QB conundrum.

Let’s face it: Trent Green is Joey Harrington is Gus Frerotte is A.J Feely, is Jay Fiedler. The only thing different is the number on the jersey.

And Trent now joins the cast of clowns in the hallowed Miami Dolphin 4-picks club. Speaking of which, here’s the executive of said club:

Most consistent Picker:
Joey Harrington:
While never quite reaching the 4-pick milestone, Joey was on quite a clip of picks during his time under centre in Miami. Harrington averaged a pick a game and I’m sure if he had stayed around longer, he would be future president.
Most Memorable moment:  2006 Week 7 – 3 picks against the Green Bay Packers

Vice President :
Jay Fiedler : The QB everyone loved to hate threw not one but 2 “4-pick” games earning him VP honors and an exclusive VIP (Very important picker) passes to all “4-pick” events.
Most memorable moment:
2000 week 15 – 4 picks against the Tampa Bay Bucs
2002 week 4 – 4 picks against the KC Chiefs *same week some guy named Trent Green had 5 TD’s and 328 yds passing, go figure!

President:
AJ Feely: Everyone’s favourite choice for the QB of the future, Feely surpassed even the boundaries of the 4-pick club to throw 5 INT’s against the Buffalo Bills in 2004.

*Not mentioned on this list is HOF QB Dan Marino. Marino threw 5 INT’s vs Dallas in 1999, but Marino also finished his career with 61321 yds passing and 420 TDs against only 252 INTs. Dan the Man’s greatness makes him ineligible for the 4 pick club.

PS. Shed Dawg Mike was at that game in Dallas.

Cheers to:Marty Booker for laying it all on the line time and time again.
Jeers to:Cam Cameron for being an idiot.

Dawg-O-Meter: 0.5

Ally’s All-star dolphin: Chris Chambers

Bum of the week: See “The Lead Item” above

Melanie’s Quote of the week comes from The Rook’s girlfriend Melissa:

“Paul, when you bring me home a jersey from Miami, I don’t have to wear it out in public right?”

Speaking of the ROOKette, lets let her sound off in a new feature

ROOKette Unplugged:

It seems to me like the players on the Miami sidelines don’t communicate well while the players on the Dallas sideline are more chatty and are having a good time.

I think this difference in emotion has more to do with the coaching than the score. The Dolphins have poor coaching skills and it shows. The team is not together, they have lost the love for the game, they don’t want to win and they aren’t trying their best. The Cowboys had what the Dolphins were lacking: Heart….and it showed!!!!

THE GAME OUTSIDE THE GAME

Tailgating at the shed was fun again...until the 4th quarter....again.

JUNGLE JIM’S PLAY OF THE GAME

Penalty on Jason Allen that took the Cowgirls from thier own 15 to our 30 yard line because of a re-kick. Unfortunately the play of the game was for the other team.
