Rooks Recap 2007

ROOK’S 50th RECAP and Mid-Season Bye Week Bonanza

THE LEAD ITEM
50. Recaps.

Yes, we’ve reached a mini-milestone at Sheddawgs.com. Not only was it the 5th Annual Sheddawgs Day, not only was it the first regular season game played outside North America, but it was also the 50th game that I have had the chance to recap.

In hindsight, I am not so sure the recap was a good idea, and here’s why.

The Dolphins record in those 50 recaps: 17-33. Terrible.
The Dolphins record in the 50 games prior to those 50 recaps: 32 -18 dating back to 2000.

But for better or for worse, here’s a quick glance at some of my fav recaps of the past 50.

5. WEEK 1 2004 Dolphins vs Titans

We started bad out of the gates with a loss to the Titans. A hurricane forced the game to be changed to a different date so we went into quarantine and made sure nobody knew the score when we watched it on Sunday. Those were the good old days when we had a solid tandem of AJ feely and Lamar Gordon.

4. Week 15 2004 Dophins vs Patriots

I’m still not sure how it happened but the Fins beat the Patriots. Lassix moment when AJ got tapped on the ass and looked like he got shot. This was also a Sheddawgs Day game.

3. Week 2 2005 Dolphins vs Jets

Dolphins lose but it was the first recap that featured the always entertaining “Melanie’s post-game quote of the week”.

First quote: “One game a season doesn’t make”

*Nick Saban doing his best Yoda impression at a New York press conference.

2. Week 1 2006 Dolphins vs Steelers

Dolphins lose but it was the first week I incorporated a song lyric into the recaps.

First Lyric: “You can’t always get what you want” by The Rolling Stones

1.Week 4 2007 Raiders vs Dolphins

Getting to recap a Fandango trip and a game that I watched live was pretty wicked.

Recap at 50 Awards :

All-time cheers to: Wes Welker, who we gave cheers to almost every game.
All-time jeers to: Wade Smith. Man I hated Wade Smith

Ally’s All-time All-Star Dolphin: Zach Thomas
All-time Bum of the week: Michael Lehan

Melanie’s All-time quote: comes from Guest Dawg Steve Ryan in Calgary, in reference to Shed Dawg Mike saying he wished he woke up a Pats fan.

"But then you would have no wife and no kids...cuz you would be gay!"

Now, bring on the next 50. But first, the recap of the 50th game.

ROOK’S RECAP 8.0

“Nothing falls like London Rain”

-Heather Nova from the album “Siren”

FINAL SCORE: GIANTS 13 DOLPHINS 10

The Lead Item:

Terrible. Game.

Well there is one thing that falls like London Rain: The Miami Dolphins. And much like the rain made the field look ugly, the Dolphins made football look ugly. The start of the game did have a superbowl like atmosphere to it, like the anthems, not the actual gameplay. I could have watched a better game here in Halifax at Saint Mary’s University.
I guess the only bright spots were Ted Ginn catching his first TD (now if can only get one in America) and Jesse Chatman running like a bull. All in all, London was calling, but as has been the case all year, the Dolphins were nowhere to be found.

Cheers to:That Giant Jason Taylor. The lone bright spot on an otherwise terrible trip.

Jeers to:The field conditions. Worst I’ve seen. Even the 1967 Ice Bowl game between the Packers and Cowboys had better conditions than this.

Dawg-O-Meter: 0

Ally’s All-star dolphin:  Jesse Chatman

Bum(s) of the week:  Cleo Lemon

Melanie’s Quote of the week

“Honestly, I couldn't point out London on a map if you didn't have names on the countries. I don't know what anything is. I know Italy looks like a boot. That's about it. They speak English. I learned that yesterday. They speak English in London, so I'll be fine."

-The Future of the Dolphins Defense - Channing Crowder

THE GAME OUTSIDE THE GAME

Shed Dawgs Day.......The 5th Annual Shed Dawgs Day was certainly the highlight of this day. The Day saw over 20 people show up to the shed to celebrate Shed Dawgs Day.....and the Dawgs will continue to keep on Crankin' it up.....regardless of what the team does on the field.....although it sure would be nice to get a win!!!!!!!

JUNGLE JIM’S PLAY OF THE GAME

Ted Ginn's first NFL touchdown catch.
